Flatland - iTunes mock up

Didn't make sense to have an iBook and not advertise on iTunes, so have quickly mocked it up.

Carries through the identity and gets straight to the point.

Flatland - Photoshoot

Actually quite happy with how this project has come together. Though it was only an experimental brief, i'm really happy with it.

Photos have come out quite well too, and have got quite a good representation of the blue which I was worried about.

Just need to drop them into my boards now.

Flatland - Bellyband

Flatland - Covers

In order to get rid of lulu's very shiny stock for the cover, I've printed off some wraps on matt stock.

Flatland - books from lulu

Soft cover books arrived from lulu.

Initially, I really didn't want the soft back books, which is why I ordered the hard back. But since playing around with them, I quite like them.

The stock for the interior is off white, which is nice but is too much of a contrast from the bright white cover. I'm hoping the cover wraps will solve this. It's also very thin, thinner than what I've received from lulu before, but it means you can faintly see the page underneath it. Nothing I can do about that now though.

Flatland - printed bookmarks

Flatland - belly band idea

Idea is to die cut the shape out of the belly band to reveal the title etc underneath. I'm not sure how this is going to work out. If i'd of thought of this sooner I'd of centered the position of the text as I think the large space at the bottom might look a bit odd. Will try it though, going home to collect Lulu books tomorrow.

Flatland - Further range

Bookmark development.

Although this was a short brief, I thought I should make the most of it.

It's not a substantial brief, even though I could make it one. I just thought it needed finishing off.

Flatland - More poster development

Flatland - sent to Lulu.

Sent off both books to Lulu.

Ordered them in hardback and soft cover. I wanted to have hardback, but the turnaround time is longer and I was worried they wouldn't come in time, considering the bank holiday. Should get the soft covered books by the end of this week.

Soft covers were £2.00 each, can't moan at that!

Flatland part 2 - Interior

I would normally only do a few spreads, and it was probably unnecessary to do both full books, but I wanted to do something that was finished, and it didn't take me too long to do it.

Flatland - Promotional poster development.

Throughout the book, references are made to specific shapes, I wanted to try and use this as a visual.

Maybe too much white space?

Flatland chosen cover.

And then obviously something the same for the second book.

I would really like to add some colour. I'm unsure whether to have it on the cover or to have it on the packaging.

The idea is to have a belly band that goes around both books in order to keep them as a set.

Flatland - Cover ideas.

Flatland part 1 - Interior

Flatland development.

Been playing around with the Flatland brief.

I was planning on dropping it, but I thought I could gain a lot from it. I don't plan on spending more than a day on this.

The Flatland book is in two parts, so I have decided to treat it as two books, creating a larger break between the two.

The idea is to play on emphasis. Picking out particular words or phrases to emphasise.

This really is just an experimental brief for me. I wanted to concentrate on how a book is read and how I can push this. It also gives me chance to develop more experimental layouts that I have been meaning to do for a while.
